Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)

Save Energy Bills Without Spending

Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)?

The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS), formerly known as ECO+, is a new government initiative that focuses on property insulation to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy bills.

This scheme will be available until March 2026. Full funding is provided for single insulation measures such as Loft insulation, Room-In-Roof insulation, Flat Roof insulation and Cavity Wall insulation, Room Thermostat and Heating controls However, contributions may be required for external and internal wall insulation, depending on the assessment outcome, property type, and built form.

What are the eligibility criteria?

The eligibility criteria for the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) are based on the following two factors:

  • Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) property rating to be D or lower.
  • Council Tax bands, which are A-D in England and A-E in Scotland and Wales.

Check the EPC rating of your home and council tax band by clicking the following links.

Funding is available subject to the eligibility and assessment outcome of the ECO4 Grants Solution Energy Assessor. Even if you have an existing EPC, we still require an assessment, which is free of cost.

How this scheme different to ECO4 scheme?

The Great British Insulation Scheme differs from the ECO4 scheme in that it will mainly focus on providing individual, lower-cost insulation measures. These measures will typically include cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, room-in-roof insulation, flat roof insulation, and underfloor insulation. These are generally less expensive to install, and the government grant is expected to cover most of the cost. However, more expensive measures like External and Internal Solid Walls may require a larger contribution from the customer or landlord.
